What the service is

We publish general guidance about asbestos and pass enquiries to Better Home Hub, which tries to introduce you to a specialist. We do not carry out surveys, testing, removal or any other work, and we are not a government body, regulator or trade association. Specialists we introduce may pay Better Home Hub a fee. There is no charge to you for the introduction.

We can't promise that a specialist will be available in your area or will contact you.

Specialists are independent

Any quote, contract or work is between you and the specialist. Before you hire anyone, check that they are suitable for the job: for licensed asbestos work, check their licence on the list of current licensed asbestos contractors that HSE links to; get more than one quote; and ask about insurance and what paperwork you'll receive.

Our guidance

Our articles are general information, not advice about your property. Asbestos can't be identified by looking at it, and the right action depends on the material, its condition and any work planned. Cost figures are typical ranges, not quotes. Where our pages differ from HSE guidance, follow HSE.

Liability

We aren't responsible for the work, advice or prices of specialists you are introduced to. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer.
